The European Union grew out of a desire for peace in a war-torn and divided continent. According to the Office for National Statistics, there was a 20,000 rise in net migration to the UK from the 313,000 for the year to December 2014.

Mr Vaizey questioned what would happen to the roaming charge caps should the UK vote to leave the EU.
